    Manufacturing Engineer – Internal Grinding Lead – Lead development of new internal grinding processes using universal internal cylindrical grinding equipment. Read, interpret, and program CAD drawings for use on the machine. Determine appropriate tooling and fixturing for the material used and the tolerancing required. Determine appropriate speeds and feeds to achieve target cycle times and tolerances. Determine appropriate measurements and supplemental equipment needed to achieve customer specifications within the given budget. Once equipment is identified, lead the procurement and implementation of
    this equipment. Document the process and take ownership of all aspects of the equipment. Perform and train others to successfully maintain the equipment. Recommend fixes and other solutions to eliminate common issues with the equipment. Take the lead in procurement of any new equipment related to internal grinding. Work as subject matter expert of internal and internal radius grinding. Perform data analysis on tests and prepare reports for management. Support any other initiatives regarding internal radius grinding. Work with MasterCAM and AutoDesk Inventor. Worksite: Abingdon, MD (ER HQ). Domestic and international travel may be required 10% of work time. Offered wage: $97,427/yr.     Job Purpose

    The Process / Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for leading the design and implementation of manufacturing processes (from pilot to fully operational) to achieve both current process improvement goals and new product development implementations.  

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Develop process solutions by identifying, testing, fundamentally understanding, and controlling factors that influence product performance and manufacturability.
    • Deploy new process technologies to continuously improve customer value and meet new product needs.
    • Design the manufacture and implementation of production tooling.
    • Assess process capabilities and set-up process controls.
    • Define critical product parameters, process steps, and necessary documentation.

    Qualifications                                                                                                                     

    • Possess strong technical skills and analytical ability with a hands-on approach and willingness to roll up sleeves and dig into project.
    • Solid Project Management skills.
    • Experience with Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing practices.
    • Experience with Autodesk products (AutoCAD, Inventor and Vault).
    • Ability to promote teamwork and open communication throughout the organization.

    Education and Experience

    • MS degree in an Engineering discipline.
    • 7 years of experience, 3+ years of engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.

    Work Environment

    Fast-Paced, friendly and challenging manufacturing environment.


    Physical Requirements

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs; talk or hear.  The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

    This is a full-time position.  Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.
